Pre-Term Work 2026-2027

Pre-term Work (Formerly Summer Assignments)

Pre-term work for select Houston High School courses is now available. As we transition to block scheduling, summer assignments are now referred to as pre-term work and are designed to help students begin their coursework prepared and ready for success.

Students enrolled in any of the courses listed below should complete the assigned pre-term work before the start of the semester in which their course is scheduled.

Semester 1 (Fall) courses begin: Wednesday, August 5, 2026
Semester 2 (Spring) courses begin: Tuesday, January 5, 2027

Because student schedules will not be distributed until schedule pickup in August, many students may not know whether a course will fall in Semester 1 or Semester 2 until that time (unless otherwise noted below). Students may either complete all applicable pre-term work over the summer or wait until schedules are finalized before beginning.

Please review the course list below and access the corresponding pre-term work links for any requested classes. Completing assignments independently and with academic honesty is an important part of preparing for advanced coursework.

Pre-term work is intended to prepare you for the academic expectations of your upcoming course and should reflect your individual effort and readiness. All assignments should be completed independently and without the use of AI tools, unauthorized assistance, or outside resources that compromise original work.

Submitting work that is not your own violates Houston High School’s Honor Code and may result in academic consequences. More importantly, authentic effort ensures you are prepared for success when your course begins. Plan ahead, do your best work, and reach out to school staff if you need support.
