Last week, Houston High School held its annual College Fair, bringing together over 60 college and military representatives to connect with students during their flex and lunch periods. The event provided students with an opportunity to explore a wide variety of post-secondary options, including academic programs, scholarships, and campus life. Admissions representatives from universities and military branches offered valuable insights, helping students plan for their futures and consider potential academic paths.
In addition to the College Fair, Houston High welcomed officers from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) for a special Career Chats event. THP officers shared their experiences, giving students a glimpse into the daily responsibilities of law enforcement officers, as well as discussing pay, benefits, and the personal fulfillment that comes from serving the community. Students were able to ask questions and gain a better understanding of the qualifications and career opportunities available with the THP.
"These events are crucial for our students as they explore both academic and career options," said Houston High Principal, Hallie Ross. "It’s important that they have access to a wide range of opportunities to help them make informed decisions about their future."
The combination of the College Fair and Career Chats provided students with a well-rounded view of both higher education and career possibilities, ensuring they are prepared to take the next steps after high school.
