The Pointe Alternative School at Houston is an elevated behavior-based program that provides students with long-term suspensions the opportunity to continue earning the necessary credits to graduate. The Point also teaches students the soft skills needed to successfully reenter the general education environment, and this also prepares them for their future beyond HHS. Through The Pointe, these Mustangs learn that their past mistakes do not define them, and while accepting the consequences of their actions, they can also work to move forward and take the first step towards a more enlightened way of living and communicating.

Mission: To provide opportunities for academic and behavioral growth in a structured setting, and to equip students with the skills necessary to succeed in the general education environment and beyond.

Vision: The Pointe is dedicated to meeting the academic and behavioral needs of each student by recognizing and accommodating their individual differences. We are committed to enabling all students to become valuable and successful members of the community while assisting them in the completion of their academic requirements.

Goals & Values

All students have the right to learn in a place that is safe and free from distraction. At The Pointe, students are allowed every opportunity to succeed both academically and behaviorally. The Pointe provides a highly structured learning community where both academics and behavior are closely monitored in a positive, encouraging and supportive environment. The Pointe employs a discipline policy germane to the alternative education setting. Therefore, our daily classroom routine is grounded in a simple set of classroom rules: follow instructions the first time given and focus on yourself.

A continuous emphasis on personal responsibility holds students accountable for self-monitoring and taking ownership of their actions. Strides made in personal responsibility translate into greater success academically.

The Pointe is staffed by a very strong team of experience, supportive professionals who share the same goals and values for the classroom experience and beyond.

These goals include:

  • To empower students to become responsible for their own behavior and academic performance.
  • To help students transition back to the general education setting or home school.
  • To provide instructional support that will meet the needs of individual learners.
