The National High School Cheerleading Championship, held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at The Walt Disney World® Resort on February 11-13, 2022, is the pinnacle of cheerleading competitions for high school cheerleaders across the country. All teams invited to compete at the championship qualified at a regional competition in 2021. Teams were credentialed in cheer safety and leadership training, endorsed by the National Federation of High School Sports (NFHS), as well as in the areas of crowd leading, spirit raising, ambassadorship, athleticism, and entertainment.
Here's a quick recap of how our Houston High Cheer teams performed:
- Houston Varsity Cheer won the title in Super Varsity D1 and also won Super Varsity World School Cheer Competition.
- Houston Silver won the JV Non Tumbling Division in the World School Cheer Competition and placed 6th in the National competition.
- Houston Red placed 6th in the Small JV Division in the National High School Cheerleading Championship.
The teams are coached by Chris Crabtree and Ryan Jackson. School sponsors are Kelsey Woolfolk and O’Malley Nobert.
