Kinsey Healy, HHS Choir

Houston High Choir Director Kinsey Healy Named CMA Foundation Music Teacher of Excellence
Selected from a highly competitive pool of educators across the country, Healy was recognized for her exceptional leadership in music education, her impact on students, and her contributions to the broader music education community. As part of the honor, Houston High’s choir program will also receive a $2,500 classroom grant from the CMA Foundation.

Healy’s impact extends far beyond Houston High’s choir room. She leads an annual Choral Exchange with local high schools, directs an All Southwest Honor Choir Audition Preparation Workshop for students across the region, co-directs a Masterworks Concert, and collaborates annually with the Germantown Symphony Orchestra.

She also serves as secretary for the West Tennessee Vocal Music Educators Association and co-chair of the All Southwest Senior High Honor Choir. In addition, she presents professional development sessions for fellow educators and mentors future music teachers through the University of Memphis.

Alumni Spotlight

Jonah Little, HHS Wrestling

Class of 2026 wrestler Jonah Little helped Houston achieve one of the program's strongest runs in recent years, and he had a historic finish, becoming the first Houston Mustang in more than a decade to capture an individual state championship. His performance stood out even among a talented field. In addition to his regional and state championship at 165 pounds, he was voted Wrestler of the Year and Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Regional Tournament by the region’s coaches.

District Athletic Director Marvis Davis praised the team’s grit and dedication throughout the season saying, “We are incredibly proud of our wrestling program and the way these student-athletes represented Houston. Their work ethic, resilience and commitment to one another were evident all season long. Jonah’s state title is historic, but it reflects the culture this entire team has built.”
