The Health Sciences Pathway at Houston High School offers four years of electives for those pursuing careers in the health science field. The pathway offers both internship opportunities and a CMA certification (certified medical assistant) making it possible to find employment directly out of high school.
The pathway certification team represents a unique partnership between the Tennessee Department of Education and the Tennessee Board of Regents. Launched in 2019, the Tennessee Pathways Certification sets clear expectations for alignment, advisement, and partnerships that define strong education-to career pathways. Beyond establishing standards for program quality and design, the Certification elevates and celebrates innovative and exemplary pathways in the state. Needing a score of 60 to qualify, the Health Sciences Program at Houston High School earned a 92. Congratulations to CTE Supervisor Ethan Constant and Houston High School Health Sciences teacher Danita Mullings for their outstanding work on achieving the certification status.
