June 2023 - The Commercial Appeal has announced their nominees for 2022-2023 Player of the Year, and the Houston Mustangs have several students who are being recognized.
In varsity baseball, Dean McCalla and Ryan Mitchell are nominated for player of the year, and they were also named as members to the All-Metro team for the Commercial Appeal.
Junior Hays Adams has been nominated as a player of the year in both cross country and soccer. He was also named as a nominee for Athlete of the Year, and he previously won the GMSD Athlete of the Month for May 2023.
Coach David Wolff is nominated for girls' coach of the year for varsity soccer.
