PSAT Registration Deadline Friday, September 15

We are excited to offer the PSAT/NMSQT to any 9th-11th grade student this fall. The PSAT will be given on Tuesday, October 24th here at Houston HS. If you would like to register for the PSAT, please visit schoolcashonline.com to pay for the exam. The deadline to register is September 15th.

Beginning this year, the College Board has moved the PSAT to a digital format. Every student taking the PSAT needs to create a College Board account if you do not already have one. You can create an individual student account by visiting account.collegeboard.org/login/login. Students are not required to take the PSAT, but we encourage our 9th-11th grade students to take it. The National Merit Scholarship Program uses the test scores from 11th graders to determine National Merit Semi-Finalists.

If you choose to take the test in October, our goal is to provide you not only with the results but also a personal letter (example attached) indicating which AP courses you are likely to do well in (60% chance or higher to earn a 3 or better on the AP exam) based on your PSAT score. We know that exposing our students to rigorous coursework not only challenges them but better prepares them for the college and career opportunities that lie ahead. Please read the attached PSAT flyer for more information.
