Houston High School teacher Craig Juneau saves student with quick action

September 2024--Houston High School's Digital Arts teacher, Craig Juneau, became a hero last week when he saved a choking student in the cafeteria. Noticing the student's distress, Mr. Juneau quickly performed the Heimlich maneuver, dislodging the food and saving the student’s life.

Cuddly Baby Goats Visit Ms. Boggan’s Classroom

September 2024--Students in Ms. Cristy Boggan’s Human and Social Sciences class at Houston High School enjoyed a visit from baby goats, courtesy of 901 Goats, as part of their mental health unit. The goats provided a fun and relaxing way to reinforce positive mental health habits, with students and staff from other classes, including the Transition Academy, joining in. The event was made possible by GMSD Coordinated School Health, creating a memorable, wellness-focused experience for all.

Unleashing Potential: HHS Seniors Take Research to the Next Level at St.Jude

September 2024 - This summer, four HHS seniors participated in the St. Jude High School Research Immersion Program, tackling projects in Hematology, Proteomics, Host-Microbe Interactions, and Structural Biology. Their experience deepened their scientific knowledge and honed skills in persistence, adaptability, and teamwork. With these new insights, they’re excited to bring their learnings into senior year and future endeavors.
