Mechatronics

The Dual Enrollment program at Southwest Tennessee Community College offers two comprehensive courses in mechatronics, catering to high school students in grades 10 through 12.

Mechatronics I serves as an introduction to this exciting field, focusing on mechatronic systems and the intricacies of electrical and mechanical components. A key component of this course is teaching students how to troubleshoot technical issues using technical documentation. Successful completion of Mechatronics I opens the door to Mechatronics II, an advanced course designed for grade 12 students who have completed the prerequisite Mechatronics I.

Mechatronics II dives deeper into the subject, covering control circuits, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, digital logic, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), all while continuing to emphasize troubleshooting skills using technical documentation.

Both courses offer valuable knowledge and skills for students interested in pursuing careers in mechatronics and earn them 1 CTE (Career and Technical Education) credit.
