STEM

The STEM program at this high school offers a comprehensive pathway for students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

It begins with STEM I Accelerated, an introductory course designed for 9th and 10th graders that focuses on building foundational skills necessary for success in STEM fields.

STEM II Accelerated, available in grades 10 and 11, provides project-based learning experiences, allowing students to apply scientific inquiry and engineering design processes to projects. Students can choose traditional sciences or engineering pathways.

In STEM III Accelerated, which is open to 11th and 12th graders, students tackle real-world engineering problems using mathematical and scientific modeling techniques, with an emphasis on project management and teamwork.

The program culminates in the STEM Engineering Practicum Dual Enrollment, a capstone experience for 12th graders, where students apply their STEM knowledge in a professional setting, gaining valuable problem-solving, research, communication, and teamwork skills while earning college credits through dual enrollment with the University of Memphis. Prerequisites and eligibility criteria ensure that students are adequately prepared for each level of the program, emphasizing academic excellence and readiness for accelerated and advanced placement courses.
