The GMSD board honored Candace Plaisance as the GMSD 9-12th grade teacher of the year and the Houston High School Teacher of the Year.
Ms. Plaisance is a well-loved AP European History & AP US History teacher. Her class environment is heavily focused on respect and collaboration and often allows students to role play famous historical figures.

The Germantown Education Commission is proud to announce that the Battle of the Brains will again provide a competitive playing field for groups of students interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

March 1, 2022--Germantown, Tennessee--HHS 2020-21 Literary Magazine "Metamorphosis" Volume 34 has won a REALM Award from the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). Houston was one of thirteen REALM winners out of 209 entries nationwide, selected by a panel of national judges.

Germantown, TN--January 5, 2022--The Houston High School Knowledge Bowl team won a second round match against Bartlett High School on December 6th, 2021.

March 1, 2022--Germantown, Tennessee--Davis Byrd, HHS senior, officially committed to play golf at Delta State University. A signing ceremony was attended by friends, family, and golf coaches, including Coach Steve Bell, HHS golf coach. Davis attended Riverdale K-8 and Houston 9-12.

Sunday, April 24!

On March 1, our Junior class will participate in the annual TN Junior ACT. This ACT session is completely free for our students, and students are registered through Houston High School. All students need to do is be ready!!
On the testing date, be sure that you have your photo ID, a calculator, and several #2 pencils. Snacks will be provided for students during the testing break, and Juniors will be able to leave campus following the completion of testing.

Two Houston High students recently received congressional nominations to attend service academies. Congratulations to Samuel Brackett, who secured a congressional nomination to attend the Naval Academy while Ronak Karuhatty secured one for the Air Force Academy.

Congratulations to Daniel Gottschalk, Sophia Cheng, Matthew Baymiller, Susan Zhang, Owen Canter, Gabe Bautista, and Ashley Yan. Achieving a [perfect] score of 36 puts these Mustang Top Scholars in the top 99th percentile nationally out of the 2 million test takers of the ACT entrance exam.
