July, 2023--Germantown Municipal School District is excited to announce that Mrs. Hallie Ross has been selected as the next principal of Houston High School.  Mrs. Ross is an accomplished educator with a strong commitment to fostering excellence in secondary education.

June 2023 – The Daily Memphian has named their All-Metro teams for girls’ varsity track & field. Within Houston’s division, several athletes were named to All-Metro and received special mention.

June 2023 - The Commercial Appeal has announced their nominees for player, coach, and athlete of the year, and Houston Athletics received several nominations. Two students are nominated for more than one sport, and many of the players nominated have already accepted college scholarships to continue their careers.

May 2023 – At the HSMTA, Houston High School had several victories for their excellent work in Chicago: Teen Edition. They received seventeen nominations, and they took home six victories!

May 2023 – This past week Houston High School had incredible success at the Track & Field State finals in Murfreesboro. With some students coming home as state champions, and multiple new school records, it was a great week to be a Mustang!

May 2023 - HHS has been recognized as a Gold Star School through the State of Tennessee’s Safe Star Program. This means that Houston provides the highest level of safety for student athletes.

May 2023--GMSD's School Safety Team routinely checks that teachers are keeping classroom doors closed and locked. Teachers are rewarded each time their door is closed by being entered into a raffle. This year's winners from each school safety recently won a pizza oven.

5/23 -- From May 2nd to May 6th, Germantown Municipal School District (GMSD) will be celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week.

May 2023 – HHS Athletic Director, Chad Becker has been with the Houston athletics program in some capacity for the last 29 years. As he steps down to focus on teaching, he shares some of his favorite memories from his time as AD.
